Byron Seed is featuring four Energy Edge Corn combinations for the 2026 growing year. These are corn varieties specifically chosen to match with the 57H50 corn in a 70:30 blend of companion hybrid with 30% of 57H50. These Energy Edge combinations bring superior fiber and starch digestibility as well as a little additional fat for added energy in the animals diet.

The four combinations are: KF 57S20 EE and KF 59S20 EE for silage, and KF59G20 EE or KF 60G20 EE for grain.

KF 57S20 EE is made for silage! It is a 107 RM blend of 57H50 and 57C80. It excels in FiberGest and SofStarch. Tremendous milk/ton potential. It can also go for high moisture corn or snaplage. It is dual purpose with a great purpose of saving money on feed costs for the dairy. I like it planted at 30,000 populations.

KF 59S20 EE is the BMR version of Energy Edge silage. It is the combination of KF 59B70 at 70% in combination of 30% KF 57H50. Excellent flex with excellent fiber and starch digestibility when planted at 28,000 populations.

KF 59G20 EE is made for grain! It is a combination of 57H50 with a new dual-purpose grain hybrid 59C30. This hybrid is made for grain with high yield potential and high test weight. With this combination, we are expecting 5-6% fat in the grain. This is a great level for feeding pigs and poultry, giving an added boost of energy and protein too. This would be the best choice for grain farmers.

KF 60G20 EE is a versatile hybrid combination that is made to make high yielding grain corn with 5.5% fat, but it also can make great silage and snaplage also.  It is the combination of KF 60S60 at 80% and 20% KF 57H50. We get tremendous pollination and grain fill with these percentages. Grain yields have been some of the best on the farm. If you have grain farmers that want to sell value added grain to feed mills, this is definitely one to consider. Contact us to help in management and markets if needed. It has lots of potential in swine and broiler diets. Not as much value for layers.

We get some questions about the fat levels in the silage and grain, and whether that is a concern for feeding dairy cows. We do need to balance the ration for fat, but by using the Energy Edge corn, you can save money by not buying other sources of fat and digestible fiber. You can save money on feed cost. This is also very valuable for those who feed organic livestock. We do have untreated seed available. If you have any questions, give us a call.
